Gifted Evaluations

Gifted assessments are conducted when parents or teachers suspect that the child may benefit from a more challenging school experience. These assessments involve an interview with a parent and administration of an intelligence scale. All assessments and evaluations conducted meet the public school criteria to determine your child's cognitive abilities, although additional information, typically provided by you or your child’s teacher, may be needed by the school before determining eligibility.

Educational/Behavioral Evaluations

You may be wondering why your child is having a hard time in school or maybe you suspect that your child has ADHD. A doctor or a teacher may have suggested that your child receive a psychoeducational evaluation. Based upon your child’s specific needs, an appropriate and personalized evaluation will be conducted. Possible assessments to be used include standardized tests and/or rating scales in the areas of intelligence, cognitive processing, academics, adaptive behaviors, development, and attention/behavior. This will all be discussed with you, and a plan of action regarding your child’s evaluation will be determined before any testing takes place. Additionally, you may be asked to share available record, such as report cards and teacher notes, and information may be requested of your child’s teacher. A comprehensive psychoeducational evaluation will provide information about your child's learning style, academic strengths and weaknesses, and assist in understanding his/her poor school performance.
